The Louis D. Brandeis sculpture is sited on top of a beautiful outcrop and landform in the heart of Brandeis’ campus. Over the years vegetation began to encroach on the setting and desire line circulation paths became the dominant feature of the landform base. Shallow steam line utilities around the base made for challenging growing media so bark mulch became the ground cover solution. The transformation, completed in summer of 2019, creates a flexible seating area at the top of the knoll engaging the sculpture. The landform is extended to create a larger greenspace with seasonal planting and durable material. The extensive bark mulch areas are replaced with stabilized aggregate and flexible seating. The sculpture and landform are now integrated within the campus core.
