Dartmouth – Fayerweather Hall
Location: Hanover, New Hampshire
Architect: Goody-Clancy
Status: Construction
Fayerweather Hall, an older residence hall located in central campus is being renovated to provide modern housing in an historic shell. The connecting areas are punctuated with complimentary architectural infills. The landscape renovations have a similar modern twist on a campus classic. The parking lot between Dartmouth Hall and Fayerweather is being removed to create a modern campus quad while providing integrated universal access to the building’s various levels along its western side. The robust landscape is accessible, playful, ecologically productive and meets the needs of the student population. At the southwestern end of the site is the new House Center and patio, which provides ample space for gatherings and student activities. Elliptical amphitheater seating and a secondary accessible gathering space creates a semi-enclosed central lawn, providing students with space to participate in recreational activities and events. Multiple rain gardens work in tandem with the site’s sweeping topography and help to provide a high level of biodiversity within a relatively small footprint. This new campus oval will provide exterior programmable space currently missing on campus to continue the tradition of Dartmouth’s ever-evolving residential culture.
Construction is underway with anticipated completion in fall of 2026.
